Week 6: Visiting the Willis Library & Career Center

This week are are visiting the UNT Willis Library on Wednesday (10/3) and the Career Center on Friday (10/5). Please be sure to tweet your questions in advance using the #ugstJOUR hashtag for the Library (L) and Career Center (CC), and meet just outside BOTH locations at 1 pm SHARP! Each area has a presentation/workshop, and will expect you to be there on time. Thanks!

We hope that the Library & Career Center will be helpful for you as you research majors and careers for your Roadtrip Nation Group Project AND your Final Major/Career Paper. Beyond the UGST 1000 class, we know that both will serve as an excellent resource throughout your undergraduate career. Be sure to take notes, ask questions, and explore what both have to offer you while at UNT.

        

STUDY SESSION: In preparation for your first JOUR 1210 Test on Friday (10/5), your peer mentor extraordinaire – Adrienne Tate – will be hosting a JOUR 1210 study session in the Maple Hall Living Room on Wednesday (10/3) from 6:30-8:30 pm. There will be snacks, studying, and test prep happening. p.s. Adrienne has taken this class, so she might be a GREAT resource for those of you who might be worries about your first test in Mass Comm.

PRESENT: Monday (10/8) we will have presentations from the other two groups from the #ugstJOUR Explores the #UNT Campus Resource Challenge – #T4 & #mufasa

PROJECT: Roadtrip Nation Project Proposals are DUE on Monday, October 15, 2012 IN CLASS. Be sure you are talking with your group, contacting your professionals, and setting up your interview! Use your resources and things you are learning this week to organize your proposal.

ATTEND: Have you signed up for a Learning Center Workshop? Check out the Learning 101 Seriesthe Study Skills Lab or other helpful support programs offered. This assignment is DUE by October 22/12 and you must write a 350 word WP blog post about your experience at the Learning Center workshop, what you learned, and how you will apply that to your own course work/study habits this semester.

CHANGE IN SYLLABUS: Your UGST 1000 Midterm has been moved to Friday, October 26, 2012 from 1-1:50 pm. This will take place in the Sage Hall {Room number to be determined} computer labs on the 3rd floor. Make sure you are reading from the College Success textbook as you are responsible for materials covered both in-class and from the textbook.
